Hello fellow travelers, I am wondering if the Empire of the Sun tour has a lot of free time. This is my first time taking a tour and am wondering how much planning I should do. Also are there any suggestions you have for the free times? Any information is great. Thanks.

Re: Empire of the Sun Free Time

Dear Mage112982Om,
I was lucky enough to take this tour last July, I would advise that get a good guidebook (I used the Lonely Planet guidebook) and read about the cities / areas that you will visit.
The tour is structured with as much free time as is possible within the transport constraints. The activities (such as the bike rides, Geiko spotting) are optional, but good fun.

The transport arrangements are not flexible, if you are told to be somewhere at a set time, it is critical that you make it, the trains don't wait and neither will your group! [Wink]

I'm sure you will have a great time, it was my first time on a group tour, but it was very relaxed and informal. Just be open to all the great experiences you will have, you will have a bag full of good memories! [Smile]
