Hello
I have a few questions
1) I am going the Mt Fuji climb as part of Empire of the Sun tour and it says a torch is required does anybody know where do you get one. Do you buy it there? Or do you have to have it already and if so where can you buy one.
2) Does anybody know if pay the local payment should be in dollars or yen?
3) I booked the tour through STA Travel does anybody know where do I go to get a vouchers with details on the meeting point hotel I haven't got one yet and my tour start in August?
Thank You everybody in advance

Re: Empire of the Sun questions
Hi Igorr,
Thanks for your questions.
You can of course purchase a torch in Japan but most travellers take one with them. Many different shops sell torches, including large supermarkets normally.
The local payment on this tour is to be paid in Japanese Yen in cash. Currently USD 440 equals approximately 53,645 Japanese Yen.
Your travel vouchers should be sent to you around one month before departure. You can check the departure hotel in the meantime at www.imtravdossiers.com by looking at 'meeting points'. It will almost certainly be the Hotel Asakusa Sunrise and full instructions on getting from the airport to the hotel can be found in the Japan Country Dossier. I've used the instructions myself and getting to the hotel should be no problem at all.
I hope this helps.
Regards,
Brendan
Re: Empire of the Sun questions
Hey Igor,
I just came back from that tour, it was totally amazing. You can buy a head torch at Mt. Fuji for 2500 yen. There is also a place near the meeting place hotel that seels them, I saw them on the street there.
Re: Empire of the Sun questions
May I just add that my torch "froze" while we were up Fuji and did not work til we were back down. I recommend buying one from a decent place (not a $2 shop like I did)
