I know this might sound silly but any how...
I) What sort of Accom can we expect on tour. Is it all lower end western Style hotels or do we get one or two Japanese treats thrown in.
II) can I safely assume we will have towels in our rooms - I dont need to carry one? (haird dryers too? Dont really want to carry one but I do "need" one... as a rule of thumb places tend to have them)
III) Best place to get laundry done. I know this is all a bit of a "what ever you want to do" but is there someone on this board that knows a 'that' public laundry thats SO close to the hotel and blah blah blah...
IV) I noticed in another post someone mentioned that you can stash extra stuff in the Tokyo hotel? True or false
V) best style shoes for Fuji. Will "sneakers" (trainers/runners/joggers) be suitable for this. or would I need a boot? then ... if I do need a boot could I get away with something like a Doc Martin or would I really need a hiking boot?
think thats all for now
thanks guys

Re: A few questions - Japan July 2007
Hello again!
No question is silly, dont worry!!!!
In answer to them;
I)You can expect a mixture of simple Hotels and traditional Japanese Inns called Ryokans.
II)You will find hairdryers in most but no all places you stay. I would reccommend you take a travel towel (smaller to pack) although you will usually find a small towel provided.
III)I am not sure about this one, you can usually get it done at least once somewhere. Dont rely on this and take some travel wash. If you are desperate your Tourleader will be able to point you in the right direction!
IV)- I think we already have this question anwered?
V)Personally i think good sturdy trainers are adequate, or as you mentioned some good old Doc Martins. I would be loathed to shell out money for 1 climb but if you are planning on doing more of this sort of thing go for it. Ultimately they make trekking this sort of thing a lot easier on the feet and legs.
Hope this helps a bit?
Re: A few questions - Japan July 2007
On the Fujisan walk there is quite a bit of shale, especially if you walk around the summit. You could do it in trainers but your ankles might benefit from some support. Don't wear anything new, it will not look pristine when you return. I used light walking boots, but stubbed my toes a few times. Do take the hike up Yufuin, it is a good primer, and great views.
