Hello!
I'll arrive Cairo at night (10PM) and I'm a little afraid of getting a taxi by myself and move to the hotel alone... should I be worried about this??? Is it dangerous for a girl travelling alone?

Thanks in advance!

Regards!

Hello Priscilla,

Have you booked with Im Trav to meet you at the airport? You have to supply your flight details etc.

I have always been met by one of Im Trav's reps at the airport. Its a very nice feeling, knowing that someone will be there to assist you through customs etc.

By the way, I always travel to Egypt alone. Don't worry you'll be quite safe.

Hope this helps......Debbie

Re: Arriving Cairo at night

Only once have I not been met upon arrival. I had prepared for that just in case by having the name and address of our meeting point as well as knowing in advance what a taxi ride should cost me - I got there safe and sound. Needless to say this did not happen in Egypt.
On the other hand, I have caught multiple taxis alone in Cairo at night with no problems. Just know what it should cost in advance, agree on the price and don't budge from the agreed price no matter what the driver says. [Smile]
You will have a great time.

Hi Priscila,

Thanks for your question.

As Debbie and Tae have mentioned, if you've sent us your flight arrival details (at least one month before departure) then there's a strong chance that we've arranged for you to be met at the airport in Cairo.

Failing that, yes, it is perfectly safe for you to jump in a taxi outside the airport in Cairo and get a lift to your departure hotel. At that time of night the journey should definitely take less than an hour and if you experience any problems you can always give our 24-hour emergency number in Egypt a call - which you can find at the bottom of the country dossier, available from www.imtravdossiers.com.

I hope this helps.

Regards,
Brendan

if you do decide to take a taxi, remember to agree on the price of the trip before you get into the taxi.

Re: Arriving Cairo at night

Imtrav have never yet failed to collect me from the airport ( 4 out of 4), even in Delhi where my flight was in a fogbound holding pattern for 30 mins. and the luggage conveyor broke down twice. When I travelled to Egypt, there was an arrangement for a rep to 'assist" me through passport control. Don't allow this guide to attempt to bully you along. Mine was useless.

Hi Wayne,

Thanks for confirming that we do our best to ensure you are met at the start of each tour [Smile] In Egpyt it is common for your driver to be waiting for you before the passport control (which can be quite chaotic in its own right) and they will either help point you in the right direction or wait on the other side for you. My driver was very helpful, pointed me to a visa stamp office, and waited patiently for me the other side of the passport control.

Regards,
Brendan

Re: Arriving Cairo at night

Hi Raf,

Thanks for your question.

If you booked your tour with us directly then just give us a call or an email and we'll double check for you. If you booked through an agent (STA/Trailfinders etc.) just give them a call and they can check for you.

It doesn't matter how you book your flight - as long as we have your arrival information at least a month before departure AND you are arriving on Day 1 or have booked accommodation through us before Day 1 we will arrange for somebody to meet you at the airport (not available in a couple of cities but I assume you are travelling to Egypt).

You'll also receive some travel vouchers around a month before departure and one of these will be for your airport transfer.

I hope this helps.

Regards,
Brendan

Re: Arriving Cairo at night

The guy who met us was great...since they meet you before immigration, he got us right through the line, to baggage claim and out to the van. I've never been able to get through all that stuff so quickly.
