Hi,
Just getting ready for our trip on 21st November and had our inoculations yesterday. However, there was some confusion at the GPs and then today at the pharmacists about whether or not we need malaria tablets. We would prefer not to take them unless we have to (due to side effects) but it seems that on our visits to Kaudulla and Polonnaruwa, we are right on the edge of the variable risk malaria zone (where tablets are recommended).
Please could someone advise me whether or not we need them, based on the time of year we're going and the activities we're engaging in?
Thanks,
Tanya

Hello Tanya Many thanks for your post - we are very cautious about giving specific medical advise and I would recommend seeking the advice of a travel clinic with regards to taking maleria tablets. From my own experience as a traveller I would go for the best tablets you can afford as they have fewer side affects (I usually take Malerone). I went to South India in November 08 and didn't have to take them however this may not be the same for Sri Lanka. Maleria is a nasty condition so it is better to be safe than sorry. I hope you have a great trip. All the best Kate Hudson

Hi Kate and Monty,
Thank you both for your advice.
I have had a good look at the Masta website (will definitely use that in the future - top tip!) and the information has been really useful.
So thanks again!
