No doubt many of you will have seen on the news this morning details of an incident in Mumbai. Terrorists have taken large numbers of hostages in a couple of high end hotels - The Taj Mahal Palace and the Oberoi. There have been shootings and explosions.
Imaginative Traveller do not have any groups staying in these hotels, or in Mumbai. The next group due to arrive there is our "Rajasthan Explorer" trip, currently running, which started on 22 November and which is scheduled to arrive in Mumbai on 06 December.
The British Foreign Office (FCO) is now advising against all but essential travel to Mumbai. Should this advice remain in place by the time our next group is scheduled to arrive, this tour will be rerouted to end in Delhi rather than Mumbai, and those travelling on the tour will be briefed locally by their tour leader.
We are unable to predict at this early stage whether the advice will remain in place for long, or whether the situation will be resolved speedily. For those about to travel, the following groups are scheduled to arrive in Mumbai in the near future:
"From Buddha to Bollywood" HABB 30 Nov - arriving Mumbai 20 Dec
"Rajasthan Explorer" HARJ 06 Dec - arriving Mumbai 20 Dec
"Rajasthan Explorer" HARJ 20 Dec - arriving Mumbai 03 Jan
"Indian Trails" HAIT 04 Jan (starts in Mumbai)
Should this advice remain in place then tours will be rerouted to start / end in Delhi. Of course, we are hoping that the situation will improve and the advice will be relaxed in forthcoming days / weeks.
Please be assured that Imaginative Traveller would not be prepared to take any risks with the safety of our travellers or tour leaders, and will update those on tour as soon as further news is received.
