Hello all,
I know Hola Peru tours have a few threads, but I was hoping someone might be able to help me out with a couple of questions I've not found answers to. I'm off on the tour in three weeks and I still have a bit of time to get those last minute necessities!
Anyone got any advice on clothing? I just want to make sure I don’t take too much and it seems that there’s going to be a bit of a contrast between the Amazon and the Inca trail. Given it’s August, will it be much colder than the rest of the year? Also, what should I pack in my day pack on the Inca trail!
Any help would be greatly appreciated. One other thing, should I take sufficient dollars for the whole tour from day 1, or is it easy enough to get more along the way? If anyone has done the tour and remembers how much they spent that would be really useful.
Thanks all, really excited about the trip!
Martin
ps Can anyone from Imaginative Traveller let me know how many people have booked on the tour?

finish time
Oh, one other thing. Can anyone tell me roughly what time we get back to Lima on the last day?
Thanks
Martin, the Trip Notes give pretty good guidance on what to pack, including your daypack on the Inca Trail. In August it will be pleasant in the daytime (around 20c) and probably dry but gets cold at night so you'll need a fleece or something woollen, especially once you are at altitude. For the few days out in the Amazon, you'll be bringing just a daypack. As you can expect it will be hot and humid, so lighter clothes needed, although lightweight long trousers and long sleeves are recommended for the walks in the rainforest.
If you are bringing dollars, please make sure they are all absolutely in mint condition (basically new notes); any slight tear, mark or blemish and they will not be accepted by anybody (including your tourleader). People who have not travelled to South America before find this hard to believe - because most dollars in circulation in the US are far from mint condition - but it is very important.
Have a great trip!
Thanks Neens. Yes I read through all the notes so I think I'm sorted, just wanted to check I wasn't missing anything.
Thanks for the info about the dollars too. I had read that on the forum, but it's a really helpful tip. Strange though, most notes I've used in the US look like they been through a washing machine twice and then chewed by a dog!
Cheers,
Martin
Hi Martin
Just to answer one of your questions - the group arrives into Lima at around 18:30 on day 19 of the tour.
Best wishes
