Adventure holidays to see the Pyramids
Built over 5000 years ago, the Pyramids are an incredible testament to the immense achievements of the Ancient Egyptians. Located just outside the ever-growing suburbs of Cairo they loom out of the desert, towering above the modern city buildings. All our adventure tours to Egypt include time at the Pyramids where guides explain the mysteries surrounding their creation. There is also the opportunity to climb inside the Great Pyramid to see the burial chamber inside - not for the claustrophobic!
Whether it is on our short week-long adventure holiday to Egypt or part of a longer multi-country itinerary including Jordan and Israel, you can experience one of the great wonders of the world on an adventure tour to Egypt with Imaginative Traveller.
The Pyramids Facts
The Great Pyramid took 20-30,000 workers 20 years to build
It is constructed of 2.3 million blocks weighing on average 2.5 tons each
The temperature inside is constant and equals the average temperature of the earth
It is the most accurately aligned structure on earth and faces true north
The four sides of the Great Pyramid are slightly concave
Originally it was encased in white limestone and topped by (possibly) a gold capstone
Hidden rooms, decoy chambers and granite blocks did not deter thieves plundering its treasures

At the heart of ALL our adventure and activity holidays to the Middle East. By ‘going local’ we ensure that the economic benefits derived from your holiday remain with the communities that you visit. We also have long-standing relationships with some of the best local Egyptologists and the family of Nubian sailors operating our feluccas providing long term employment (even during lulls in tourism) and fair wages. Plus by working directly with the 'donkey men' and carriage drivers our visits to Karnak and the Valley of the Kings involve no 'middle men' ensuring all revenue goes directly to the locals.
